The South Dakota TB Control Program provides free medication for suspect and active TB cases as well as eligible high-risk persons diagnosed with latent TB infection who are residents of South Dakota. TB medication will only be provided with a written prescription by the patient’s physician and must be provided through a local Department of Health nurse. All medication is processed and labeled through a contract pharmacy. Health-care personnel who are requesting a patient be started on TB medications may call the local Office of Disease Prevention (Disease Intervention Offices) or the TB Control Program Coordinator at 605-773-3737 or 1-800-592-1861 (in-state only).
